Thesis title; T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase in regulating cytokine and TcR signaling for inflammatory skin disease therapy
Current address; Stanford Univ.
Dr. Won-Ju Kim started his research career in Dr. Choi’s lab as an undergraduate student. In his Ph.D. program, he did research with the following question, “How can I control immune cells with exogenous protein to treat or prevent diseases?” He identified a novel skin-penetrating peptide, AP, and designed a novel transdermal phosphatase by modifying the TC-PTP protein, which can modulate both T cell receptor and cytokine signaling, and confirmed its anti-inflammatory function in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis models.
